Joe Pearson (1877-1946),signed for Aston Villa from Dudley F.C in 1900,playing 117 games between then and 1908,appearing in the 1905 F.A.Cup final.He subsequently became a Football League referee and was linesman in the England V Scotland international in 1922.He became head of Pensnett Elementary school before World War 1 and head of Woollaston Church of England School in 1919 until his retirement in 1941.He was mayor of Stourbridge from 1941-43
